Waiver Information for Continuing Education Requirements (March - October 2020)

On March 30, 2020 Governor Newsom issued Executive Order N-39-20, authorizing the Director of the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) to waive any of the professional licensing requirements relating to healing arts licensees in Division 2 of the Business and Professions Code, and any accompanying regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, the examination, education, experience, and training requirements necessary to obtain and maintain licensure, and requirements governing the practice and permissible activities for licensees.

There is currently one waiver affecting all licensees from March, 2020 through October, 2020.

DCA Waiver DCA-20-53: March - October licensees are able to postpone continuing education requirements for their license renewal. They have until February 28, 2021 to complete 24 hours of continuing education credit; 12 hours as in-person credit and 12 hours as distance learning credit. Licensees must renew their license during their expiration month to maintain an active license.

A full list of waivers will be placed on the DCA website as they are approved. Please consider joining the DCA email distribution list for further updates on waivers.

Waivers DCA Waiver DCA-20-01 and DCA Waiver DCA-20-27 have been rescinded.
